Building Engineer 2 – Electrician, Data Center Job description OVERVIEW: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Building Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in building systems and maintenance, ensuring the efficient operation of our facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Building Engineer will be responsible for maintaining various systems, including HVAC/R, electrical, and hydraulic systems, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- 5+ years’ experience in large building operations, maintenance, and engineering support, i.e. corporate office building, hospital or resorts
- 5+ years’ experience with Data Center operations and mission-critical equipment
- Able to inspect and measure quality of workmanship to ensure standards are maintained
- Proficient in mechanical and electrical (high and low voltage) operations and/or installation
- Experience with diagnostics and maintenance of a chilled water HVAC system and controls
- Expert knowledge of lighting controls, generators, UPS, switchgear and site lighting equipment
- Experience with plumbing, fixture repairs/replacements, pumps, controls, drains and natural gas distribution equipment
- Construction plan & specification reading skills
- Prior experience in development of critical environment programs and procedures
- Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office, Outlook, Adobe
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED
OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of options in varying situations
- Ability to effectively respond to sensitive issues, inquiries or complaints from occupants, co-workers, supervisor, and/or management
- Strong customer service skills
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Technical College certificate (a plus)
- Electrical experience or certification (preferred)
- Operating engineers license with focus of HVAC, electrical, plumbing (a plus)
- Electrical license (preferred)
- Preferred knowledge with LEED certification and/or experience in LEED certified building or strong emphasis on sustainability
